This group is sponsored as a side project of Key Club, but does not require Key Club membership. Everyone is welcome! Vikings United is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition. Vikings United joins students with and without special needs on the same team. We are dedicated to a simple principle: training together and competing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. Our Vikings United teams are made up of people of similar age and ability. Special needs athletes are matched with non-special needs partners who compete together against other schools Unified Sports teams. That makes practices more fun and games more challenging and exciting for all. We currently have 3 distinct seasons: basketball in the fall, bocce ball in the winter and 5 on 5 soccer in the spring. You do not have to participate in all seasons. We compete against other high schools including Washburn Rural, Lansing, and several Kansas City area schools. Practices are 1 to 2 times per week, right after school and usually we have two tournaments per season that will take place on Sunday afternoons.
