The SHS chapter of the National Honor Society is for juniors and/or seniors who meet the minimum requirements. They must have at least a 3.85 GPA, have documented at least 15 hours of community service in the previous calendar year, have leadership positions in the classroom or in clubs, have two or fewer discipline points in the last year, and have been at SHS for at least one semester. An informational meeting will be held in the fall where application forms will be handed out to interested candidates. After the selection committee has approved the applications, selected candidates will be formally inducted into the chapter. Membership in the National Junior Honor Society does not automatically qualify you for membership in the Seaman NHS chapter. NHS activities center around service opportunities both in school and in the community. To remain in good standing, members must participate in some of those activities, pay their dues, and maintain grades and character references. NHS incorporates the ideals of academics, service, character, and leadership. Our expectations are that our members will serve as role models in these areas.
