Mike Monaghan

Mike MonaghanI began my career student teaching here at Seaman High School in the business department and then worked for seventeen years as a business education instructor and associate principal at Lawrence Gardner High School, a former Seaman school located on the grounds of the Kansas Juvenile Corrections Complex, formerly known as YCAT. I then served as an administrator and drivers education instructor at Hayden High School for seven years prior to returning to Seaman High School in 2014.

I graduated from Topeka High School, earned a Bachelor's Degree from Washburn University in Business Education, and a Master's Degree from Emporia State University in School Leadership.

My wife, Martha, and I have been married for over 30 years, and we have three adult children, Patrick, Kiley, and Brenna who is a proud Seaman graduate. We are members of Most Pure Heart of Mary Parish where I served on the Finance Council and School Council for two terms. Martha is a nurse and a member of the MPHM Choir. We enjoy family activities, athletics, concerts, theatre and travel.

We are blessed to work in a district that has established a rich tradition of Excellence in Education, Fine Arts, Athletics, and Service to the Community…SHS was recently named a School of Excellence for Civic Engagement. The class of 2020 is our 100th class to graduate from this great community.

We are dedicated to developing in every student life-long skills essential for achieving personal, academic, and occupational success. Our students are blessed to have dedicated and talented faculty, staff, sponsors, and coaches to educate, support, and guide them. We welcome the opportunity to partner with our parents, alumni, and members of the Seaman community to help our students achieve their goals and dreams. Please encourage your student(s) to get involved in school/community activities. Students who are connected to their school community, generally experience greater success in the classroom, make positive community connections, build life-long memories, and have more fun, too!

The future of our Seaman Vikings is very BRIGHT!
